CONNECTIONS 

Black and white  
to black and white
One orange wire
to each brass shunt
Yellow to yellow
as electrons flow

Switches open
Switches close
bringing capacitors
to overload
and orgasmic release
that can stop a heart
or make it go

Sodium ions drip
from cells
and make connections
that could be thoughts
or just reactions
to random bits
of intersections of
mind and matter

 
It is humbling
to become aware
that we each
share DNA with
flat worms
and baker's yeast
and they may
remain after our demise
and never know
we were even here
